An unnamed spokesperson for Frank And Oak explained the company’s decision behind choosing eco-friendly materials, stating that the brand is supposed to be about sustainability.

The company tries to ensure its manufacturing processes reflect its values of reusing, reducing and recycling materials. Additionally, Frank and Oak says the cotton used to create its new French Terry Overshirt for women is grown responsibly and harvested using sustainable methods.

The polyester fabric used for the overshirts is composed of yarns made from discarded plastic, mainly plastic bottles. The hard plastic from the bottles is shredded down into miniature chips which are then spun into new polyester yarn and woven into fabric.
