HALIFAX — On May 30th, EY Canada announced the regional finalists in the EY Entrepreneur Of the Year® 2022 Atlantic program. Selected by an independent panel of judges, 15 businesses have been recognized for striving and promoting innovation in their work.
“Whether food and nutrition, traffic control systems or collaboration tools, many of this year’s finalists are digitalizing traditional industries to drive more efficient and effective products and services for their customers that lead to greater value,” says Gina Kinsman, Entrepreneur Of The Year Atlantic Program Co-Director. “It’s exciting to see how these entrepreneurs are turning challenges into opportunities by placing people and technology at the heart of strategy to lead to new innovations.”
Now in its 28th year in Canada, the Entrepreneur Of The Year program tries to help entrepreneurs take groundbreaking ideas and turn them into businesses that deliver national and global impact. The program works in tandem with EY Entrepreneurial Winning Women™ and Entrepreneurs Access Network to help businesses grow, scale and overcome challenges.
“We’re also seeing entrepreneurs emerge to address evolving market trends such as financial crime, regulated products and renewable energy — creating leading companies that are unlocking value in response to new needs and demands,” says Steve McLaughlin, Entrepreneur Of The Year Atlantic Program Co-Director. “Atlantic entrepreneurs are driving incredible social and economic growth for the region and we couldn’t be happier to celebrate their achievements.”
The independent panel of judges will select seven regional winners who will be announced in July. The winners will then move forward to compete with Pacific, Prairies, Ontario and Québec regional winners at the national awards celebration in November, where Canada’s EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2022 winner will be revealed. The overall Canadian winner will go on to compete with national winners from across the globe in Monaco for the title of EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year™ 2023. Last year’s winner, Dr. Carl Hansen of AbCellera — BC-based biotechnology company best known for its leading role in developing an antibody treatment for COVID-19 — will be heading to Monaco next month to represent Canada on the world stage for EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year 2022.
