The slick off-road truck won Ford’s Outstanding Achievement in Design Award
GLEN MILLS, Pa.—This Ford F-350, customized with recycled and eco-sensitive materials by the EcoTrek Foundation and coated with Axalta Coating Systems’ custom water-borne Beyond Bronze paint is a real eye catcher.
Indeed, the slick off-road truck won Ford’s Outstanding Achievement in Design Award for its stylish customization and eco-friendliness at last week’s Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) tradeshow in Las Vegas, NV.
EcoTrek’s winning truck, known as an eco-expedition vehicle, is the brainchild of EcoTrek Foundation Executive Director, Tom Holm, and is a collaborative effort.

Ford sponsored the vehicle; the U.S. Navy’s algae-based bio diesel fuel powers the truck; and Axalta’s paint was applied by students studying collision repair and vehicle refinishing at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College (LA Trade-Tech).
EcoTrek is a non-profit organization that conducts research and educational programs to advance the use of renewable fuels and materials.
The SEMA tradeshow is an automotive specialty products trade event.
Axalta Coating Systems makes liquid and powder coatings for automotive, transportation, general industrial and architectural and decorative customers.
