Electrovaya to produce lithium batteries for hybrid trucks
TORONTO‑Chrysler’s Ram Truck Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), is being built with Electrovaya’s 12 kWh Lithium Ion SuperPolymer® battery system. The vehicle is showcased this week at the Washington D.C. International Auto Show.
Chrysler selected Electrovaya as a key supplier for the RAM plug-in hybrid when it became involved in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act DOE Vehicle Electification Program.
The RAM Plug-in Hybrid Electric is a full-size, low emissions truck that travels up to 20 miles using only electricity.
Delivery of the trucks is expected to begin this summer.
“Electrovaya’s battery system not only provides exceptional performance from a high energy and power perspective, but boasts a clean manufacturing process that will appeal to environmentally conscious consumers,” said Bruce Coventry, vice‑president of operations at Electrovaya.
