MISSISSAUGA, Ont.—Candu Energy Inc. has penned an agreement with the the Brea, Calif.,-based Enertech to jointly provide passive autocatalytic recombiner (PAR) technology to the US and select international markets.

Enertech, a business unit of the Curtiss-Wright Flow Control Company, is an engineering, manufacturing, distribution and service company dedicated to the nuclear industry. According to the agreement, it will be responsible for the sales and marketing of the Candu PAR catalyst technology.

PARs are used inside containment buildings of nuclear power plants and other facilities where there’s a risk of explosion due to a build-up of hydrogen gas. They activate automatically and do not require a power supply or intervention by an operator.

“Our collaboration with Enertech will allow Candu to provide this technology to the US light water reactor market and broaden its international application.”said Ala Alizadeh, Candu’s senior vice-president, marketing and business development.
