Almost every industry was adversely affected by the pandemic in 2020 and many saw a decline in growth and earnings. Organizations continue to pivot to manage the sudden changes, and the manufacturing industry in Canada is no different. ANCA, an Australian CNC tool grinder recently expanded its presence to a number of Canadian clients in the manufacturing industry. Taylor Toolworks, a specialty tool manufacturer in Alberta, uses ANCA’s MX7 tool grinder for projects in the agricultural industry.

ANCA’s MX7 tool grinder was one of the offerings used by Canadian manufacturers during the pandemic because of its vertical integration in an industry where CNC machinery is seldom being handled completely in house from top to bottom. ANCA not only produces the CNC machine, it handles software development and production, and every other aspect as well. This allows Taylor Toolworks to have a higher level of customization in their specifications for the machine, and ensures the machine to be applied across a wide range of manufacturing uses.

ANCA also supplies CNC machinery to a number of key Canadian manufacturers covering a wide base of industries in addition to woodworking. Aerospace, medical, specialty tool manufacturers and tech R&D companies also use ANCA for their CNC solutions.

Jesse Taylor, CEO of Taylor Toolworks, was clear in highlighting the MX7 tool grinder’s use in 2020. “The automated wheel changing was a big draw for us. The MX machines have really helped us with manufacturing of complex step drills and porting tools. The MX7 ticked all our boxes and helped us complete projects in 2020 involving farming equipment, oil and gas applications, metalworking and woodworking tools and composites. We’d definitely work with ANCA again.”

Russell Riddiford, President of ANCA listed a number of MX7 applications in use by ANCA clients in 2020. “Orthopaedic components, long medical drills, aerospace industry turbine blades, drills are all applications we can support. The pandemic really allowed us to diversify our applications into these other fields as well and explore the medical and prosthetic industries.”

ANCA’s MX7 tool grinder and CNC machinery like it helped to lessen the detrimental impact the pandemic had on the manufacturing industry in Canada, and many organizations will continue to search globally for these types of manufacturing solutions.
