TORONTO — The third annual Canada’s Total Mom Pitch, produced by Total Mom Inc., returns to support mom entrepreneurs navigating the changing world of business. Presented by The Scotiabank Women Initiative and powered by GoDaddy, the start-up competition and business summit is a community for entrepreneurs who are mothers.

The call for applications is open to Canadian mom entrepreneurs starting on Jan. 14 until March 31, 2022. Mom entrepreneurs can enter for a chance to compete for the Grand Prize of $10,000 in non-repayable cash and $20,000 in essential business services including mentorship, networking, and workshops. Applications can be completed online in less than 15 minutes here.

“The pandemic has transformed the way we conduct business and has changed our day-to-day lives in unimaginable ways. We face a new future that is unpredictable and unstable if we don’t have access to the knowledge and tools to get into these emerging spaces,” says Anna Sinclair, CEO & Founder of Total Mom Inc. “In addition to highlighting gender bias and systemic barriers within the entrepreneurial and business worlds, the pandemic is pushing moms to pursue alternative solutions in order to financially and emotionally support themselves and their families and create a fulfilling and successful career for themselves.”

Approximately 50 percent of all businesses started today are started by women (Business Development Bank of Canada). Despite this, access to equitable funding and resources for women to grow their businesses remains a consistent barrier. There is a need among business owners for mentorship and guidance around topics like crisis management and financial preparation. Building a community of peers who understand, relate, and most importantly empathize with the barriers moms in business face is an essential part of growing successful businesses.

This year, the top 100 semi-finalists will have the opportunity to participate in a three-week Entrepreneurship and Innovations Business Accelerator program and will be awarded a three-month scholarship to The Total Mom Network, an exclusive private membership that connects entrepreneurs to industry experts and essential business development resources.

The Total Mom Business Summit will be hosted on May 30–31, 2022 and will give attendees a business lifestyle event experience.
