PORT COLBORNE, Ont.—Ontario manufacturer and industrial service firm Allied Marine & Industrial Inc. is opening a new plant on the shores of Lake Erie.

With the help of a $462,874 contribution from the Ontario government, the company is planning to relocate its tooling, machining, fabrication and assembly operations to a new facility in Port Colborne, Ont.

Representing $4.6 million in total investment, the project will allow the company to meet growing market demand in the fabrication and machining sectors by buying new equipment. Industrial Marine supports both marine and land-based industrial companies, with much of its sales originating in the Great Lakes region.

The expansion project will create 16 new jobs at the company.

Allied Marine plans to complete the move to its new location by July of next year.
