REDWATER, Alta.—A 59-year-old man is dead after he was hit by a bus, then caught underneath the vehicle, at a worksite near Redwater, Alta.

According to Occupational Health and Safety, a coach bus had dropped off a group of workers at the North West Redwater Partnership’s Sturgeon Refinery site at about 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

When the bus moved forward to complete a left-hand turn, it struck the man attempting to cross the road.

RCMP said the victim was airlifted by STARS air ambulance to the University of Alberta hospital where he later died.

Occupational Health and Safety is investigating.
