Heroux-Dévtek subsidiary finalizes landing gear deal with Boeing

HDI Landing Gear USA inks long-term supply deal to build landing gear systems for 777, 777X programs
LONGUEUIL, Que.—The U.S. subsidiary of a Canadian parts manufacturer has signed a long-term agreement with Boeing Co. to supply landing gear for the a pair of the aerospace giant’s passenger jets.
According to Heroux-Dévtek Inc., its HDI Landing Gear USA Inc. subsidiary firmed up an agreement to build complete landing gear systems for the Boeing 777 and 777X programs.
The firms signed a preliminary supply agreement for the landing gear in September.
Quebec-based Héroux-Devtek said the deal with Boeing is the largest ever awarded to its landing gear operations.
As part of the deal, HDI will supply complete landing gear systems, including the main and nose landing gear, and the nose landing gear drag strut to Boeing.
The deal also includes the manufacturing of parts for Chicago-based Boeing to sell in the aftermarket.
Under the multi-year contract, deliveries will begin in early 2017, with an option to extend the contract through 2028.
“(Signing) this long-term contract brings Héroux-Devtek one step closer to initiating the execution of the largest contract ever awarded to its landing gear operations,” Héroux-Devtek president and CEO Gilles Labbé said in a statement.
“The entire organization is excited about this development and eager to demonstrate its world-class capabilities in producing large-scale, complete landing gear systems.”
Labbé said management is now working to finalize capital investment plans required to carry out production for Boeing.
