Ontario is funding upgrades and business expansion at advanced manufacturing company in Greater Sudbury

CONISTON, Ont. — The Ontario government announced $1 million in funding that will support business expansion at Lopes Ltd. in Coniston, Ont.

The advanced manufacturing company, which provides electrical installation, HVAC, fabrication and construction services, said the funding will be used to buy equipment to process steel plate in-house and build a 12,000 square-foot expansion to its current facilities. The funding will also create 20 new full-time jobs.

Steel is the leading structural framing material in Canada. It is used to build important infrastructure — including buildings and bridges — and is a critical material in the construction supply chain.

This investment in new equipment will let Lopes Ltd. create finished products that are ready for market, which will increase export dollars while lowering manufacturing costs, said Premier Doug Ford.
