Investing in Invenergy Wind LLC's Parc des Moulins wind farm south of Quebec City

MONTREAL—La Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec is investing $42-million in a 135.7-megawatt wind farm in Quebec.

According to La Caisse, it is investing in Invenergy Wind LLC’s Parc des Moulins wind farm south of Quebec City.

In operation since December 2013, the wind farm covers Thetford Mines, Kinnear’s Mills and Saint-Jean-de-Brébeuf, Que., about an hour south of Quebec City.

Invenergy will continue to be the majority controlling shareholder of the Parc des Moulins project.

“In line with our strategy, we continue to invest capital in quality infrastructure to generate attractive long-term returns for our clients,” La Caisse senior vice-president of infrastructure Macky Tall said in a release.

“Alongside Invenergy, which operates and manages projects to the highest industry standards, we have already invested in several wind farms in Quebec, Canada and the United States.”

In January 2013, La Caisse announced a US$500-million investment in 13 Invenergy wind projects in the U.S. and Canada with a total operating capacity of 1,500 megawatts.

La Caisse is Quebec’s public pension investment fund and manages more than $200-billion in assets.
