Aiming to bolster market share in U.S., company plans to add eight new lines and hike production in Southern Ontario city

Trenton, Ont.—Canadian tissue paper manufacturer Kruger Products Inc. is looking to boost its production and exports by investing $52 million in its Trenton, Ont. operations.

With the help of a $10 million loan from the provincial government’s Jobs and Prosperity Fund, the company will install a range of new equipment at the plant, set up eight new production lines and bring on 119 new workers. Among other goals, Kruger expects the project to help it gain ground in the U.S.

“We are excited about growing our Trenton plant and expanding our export opportunities,” Mario Gosselin, the company’s CEO, said. ‘This project will significantly bolster our production capabilities and set us up for years of growth to come.”

The capital spending follows a $55 million investment Kruger made in its Crabtree, Que. plant in July.
