ST. JOHN’S, N.L.—Energy and climate change will top the agenda as eastern premiers and New England governors meet today in St. John’s, N.L.
Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Paul Davis will host the 39th annual conference of regional leaders.
Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard is to attend along with Atlantic premiers and governors from the six New England states.
They include Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
Discussions during the one-day meeting will focus on energy-sector innovation and solutions that could help curb climate change.
The prospect of new transmission lines to bring hydro power from eastern Canada into New England is also expected to come up.
