Plant will treat waste fluids such as emulsion produced in Alberta's oilsands

CALGARY—Ceiba Energy Services Inc. has officially opened a new waste fluid facility outside Athabasca in northern Alta.

Designed to process waste fluids such as crude oil emulsion and produced water generated by oil and gas firms operating the the oilsands, the facility can dispose of approximately 180,000 square-metres of liquid waste annually.

Situated 30 kilometres northeast of Athabasca, the facility is Ceiba’s third Class 1B waste fluid facility, as well as its seventh location in the region. The new plant will process waste from the company’s existing customers, as well as any new clients.
