Saskatchewan agtech start-up aims to build farmer confidence

Raised on the family farm, Kyle Folk says there’s no better place to start an agtech company than Saskatchewan.

Folk’s venture, Ground Truth Ag, uses machine-vision cameras and near-infrared spectrometers mounted on a combine, measuring grain quality as it passes through.

At harvest, producers send grain samples to prospective buyers, and often, the farmer is left guessing the quality of their sample when it’s sent.

“Producers deal with enough risks that are out of their control so anytime they can mitigate or eliminate certain uncontrollable factors, we’re excited to offer that.”
