TORONTO—General Electric Co. will invest $10 billion through 2020 to intensify research on complex energy projects such as waterless fracking and gas turbine efficiency.

Reuters Canada is reporting the new spending in GE’s “ecoimagination” budget will be announced by Chief Executive Jeff Immelt on Monday.
