Inventys appoints Dr. Steven Chu to its board of directors as the company aims to grow its carbon capture technology business

VANCOUVER—Inventys Thermal Technologies, a carbon capture company in BC, has appointed Dr. Steven Chu to its board of directors. Chu is a Nobel Laureate and former US Secretary of Energy.

Inventys has developed a system for capturing carbon dioxide from coal and natural gas power plants. The carbon can be injected underground for sequestration, or can be used in industrial applications such as chemical manufacturing.

The Inventys system is small enough to retrofit to existing power plants by connecting directly to the flue stack, the company reported.

“Carbon capture is a critical technology to move us to a clean energy future and Inventys has developed a practical, compact, and low cost system that allows existing fossil fuel power plants to dramatically lower their carbon emissions,” said Chu.
