Military orders mobile incinerator units from Burlington, Ont. firm designed for rapid deployment

BURLINGTON, Ont.—The Canadian Forces has inked a deal with Burlington, Ont.-based Eco Waste Solutions (EWS) for the supply of mobile incineration units.

The ECO Mobile waste incineration system is designed for deployment to any location and climate, according to EWS, and is part of a logistic support plan for increased self-sufficiency within base camps.

Kept in 20-foot ISO shipping containers for rapid deployment, the company claims the units are both rugged and efficient, meeting government emission control limits for incineration.

“Our equipment has been relied upon in some of the Canadian Forces’ most remote outposts for almost two decades—something our company is very proud of,” EWS president Steve Meldrum said in a statement. “Now they will be able to take this equipment with them and ensure the same level of environmental quality in their operations abroad.”

Other users of EWS’ commercial off-the-shelf technology include the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Armed Forces.

EWS innovations include 4G controls, containerized mobile incinerators and scalable modular incinerators that can offer heat recovery in the form of hot water, steam and small-scale energy from waste.
