Company opens PV solar facility in Alpes de Haute-Provence region

MONTRÉAL—Boralex Inc., a Kingsey Falls, Que.-based renewable power company, has commissioned its second solar farm in France.

Les Cigalettes solar power station is located in the communes of Montfort and Peyruis in the Alpes de Haute-Provence region. The plant will have an installed capacity of 10 megawatts, and was completed on time and on budget.

“With solar energy costs falling and even closing in on traditional-energy costs, commissioning our second solar asset in France is proof of Boralex’s intention to pursue solar development,” Boralex president and CEO, Patrick Lemaire, said.

Les Cigalettes, a photovoltaic solar facility, is covered by a 20-year contract with Électricité de France and will have an annual average production of 15 gigawatt hours. Construction costs ran to approximately 11 million euro.
