Advance Pierre recalls 1,200 lbs. of fried chicken breasts as human error leads to product going out.
Despite the proof of metal detection units at Advance Pierre Foods of Enid, Okla., a recall of about 1,200 pounds of chicken fried chicken breasts may contain small pieces of metal, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) on January 25, 2013.
The following products are subject to recall:
- 22.75-oz. pouches of Fast Classics Chicken Fried Chicken Breasts;
- Cases containing 6, 22.75-oz pouches Fast Classics Chicken Fried Chicken Breasts.
The recalled product bears the establishment number “P-2260Y” inside the USDA mark of inspection, and a best-before date of January 22, 2014, the lot number 1522960202, and a UPC number 75901-33100. The products were distributed in Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas.
Although the metal in the product was discovered after two customer complaints, it was known by Advance Pierre Foods prior to that when they realized a small metal hand tool had fallen into a grinder.

However, while the company began diverting product, some of the product being recalled was packaged and shipped before all corrective actions could be taken.
No injuries have been reported.
