Financial gift in form of scholarships goes to Ryerson's School of Graphic Communications Management.
PAC—The Packaging Association, Ontario Region is donating $25,000 to be distributed over five years in the form of 20 scholarships to the School of Graphic Communications Management at Ryerson University.
The awards will go to students who successfully complete the first year of the program, with special emphasis on the packaging curriculum. These students will also be members of PAC.
Partners for several years now, this initiative is one of several between PAC and Ryerson. The association has also been instrumental in helping launch the school’s new extracurricular team that focuses on packaging education, called RyePack. This group of students has successfully won two PAC awards as well as many other awards since its inauguration less than two years ago.
“With recent technology additions, the school is now capable of both offset and flexographic output. PAC has been a partner in the process of integrating packaging curriculum into the program from the very beginning. Packaging has such a promising future, and we are excited to be a part of that at Ryerson,” says Ian Baitz, Chair of the school. “The support from industry has been an integral part of producing graduates ready to work in the packaging industry. As the cost of education increases, these types of commitments are invaluable to student success.”
Adds PAC chief executive officer Jim Downham, “PAC has historically been contributing to many scholarship funds to various academic institutions across the country. Since the 1980’s the Ontario region made a significant commitment to packaging education and this is continuing support to a high profile institution that has demonstrated a progressive and supportive attitude towards the packaging industry. We are pleased to be supportive of their packaging program.”
