Cascades Inc., the Kingsey Fall, Que. global corrugated converter is at it again offering a new version of 100 per cent recycled Christmas tree.

No, it’s not an old dry pine tree scavenged from the dump, but rather it’s a recycled corrugated Christmas tree, known as the Massimo.

Standing six-feet tall, the recycled paper materials tree comes adorned with decorations right out of the box.

The Cdn $99 tree is made and sold via the online Cascades Boutique, providing a new and exciting way to think about Christmas but only with a small environmental impact.

This isn’t the first foray for Cascades to offer a recycled corrugated Christmas tree. Last November 16, 2010, Canadian Packaging magazine reported on Cascades partnership with the Reno De Medici Group of Italy to create a 100 per cent recycled Christmas tree known as the Moderno. Read that story HERE. The Moderno and a third tree, the white ‘snow-covered’ tree known as the Classico are all available from Casacdes Boutique.

While that initial effort produced a more industrial looking and shorter  tree, this year’s version—it definitely looks more festive.

Along with a great-looking tree, each purchaser of the 3,000 available trees will also receive a ‘tree-mist’ spray that they can spray onto the tree for that pine-fresh forest smell. As well, a set of LED lights is included.

While this year’s Massimo Christmas tree can be purchased via the Cascades website: boutique.cascades.com, it is in talks with retailers to carry the tree next Christmas.
