Acquisition will provide Bosch with extension of technological leadership in packaging of liquid and paste-like food segment.
Bosch, a leading global supplier of technology and services, is acquiring packaging equipment manufacturer Ampack Ammann, located in Königsbrunn near Augsburg, Germany.
Ampack Ammann, a family-run business since 1973, develops, manufactures, and sells filling and packaging machines for liquid and paste-like foodstuffs, employs some 250 people and generates a yearly sales of some €35-million (Cdn $43.1 million) over the past few years.
The purchase price has not been revealed.
Some of the equipment manufactured by Ampack Ammann includes cup and bottle filling machines, dosing systems and peripheral machinery mainly used to fill and pack foods such as: dairy products, baby food, and hospital food, as well as dosable products like cereals. The company has conducted its own research in the field of aseptics and has run a microbiology test laboratory since 2005.
“Ampack Ammann is a technological leader in the area of low-germ and aseptic processing of pre-formed cups and bottles. With the acquisition of Ampack Ammann we will be able to complement our existing product portfolio in this segment,” says Bosch Packaging Technology division president Friedbert Klefenz, adding that he believes the acquisition will enable Bosch Packaging Technology to extend its technological leadership in the packaging of liquid and paste-like food products.
Ampack Ammann also offers an extensive range of after-sales service including the maintenance and overhaul of used machinery and the supply of spare parts. The company also acts as general contractor for complete filling and packing lines.
Ammann’s executive director Rainer Ammann adds: “Bosch Packaging Technology’s global sales and service network will put us in an even better position to market our filling and packaging machines internationally.”
In Ammann’s view, exploiting this additional market potential will support the strong further development of this family business, which was established in 1973.
