Former MP to take on projects related to public finances, natural resources
MONTREAL—Recently ousted MP and former finance minister Joe Oliver has taken up a position at the Montreal Economic Institute (MEI).
The politician, long-time investment banker and former executive director of the Ontario Securities Commission will take on the post of “Distinguished Senior Fellow” at the right-leaning think tank.
“I am very happy to be associated with the MEI,” Oliver said. “It is an organization that enjoys a very high level of credibility in Quebec and across Canada. Moreover, it is the only Canadian think tank proposing solutions based on market mechanisms that offers all of its publications in both official languages, which I think is very important.”
Originally from Montreal, Oliver will take part in a range research projects, in particular, those related to public finances and natural resources. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Civil Law from McGill University, as well as a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School.
