$25M oil sands contract for Aecon

A unit of Aecon Group Inc. has won a $25-million contract to complete upgrades on an existing water treatment plant in Fort McMurray, Alta.
TORONTO: Aecon Group Inc.’s Lockerbie & Hole Mechanical Unit has won a $25-million contract from Bird Construction Co. to complete upgrades on an existing water treatment plant in Fort McMurray, Alta.
The contract covers mechanical services for a new pretreatment building, filter building, raw water transfer station and a filtered water transfer station, along with upgrades to existing plant processes and chemical systems.
It also includes construction of a new operations building and demolition of the existing administration building.
Work is scheduled for completion by spring of 2012.
