Port of Baltimore awards $24.2-million dredging contract

OAK BROOK, Ill.—Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corp. has landed a $24.2-million contract for maintenance dredging in the Port of Baltimore.
This contract was awarded by the Army Corps of Engineers’ Baltimore District. Two clamshell dredges will begin work in September and are expected to be done by year end.
Baltimore Harbor is an important part of the U.S. maritime transportation system and maintaining the navigable waterways in the Baltimore Harbor shipping channel to their authorized dimensions is critical to the regional and national economy.
Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corp. is the largest U.S.-based provider of dredging services and also handles commercial and industrial demolition.
