BARRIE, Ont.—Foam fabricator Jacobs & Thompson Inc. is investing $3.9 million to upgrade equipment at one of its three Ontario manufacturing sites.

The company plans to use the funds, which include $250,000 from the Ontario government, to buy new equipment for its Barrie, Ont. plant, as well as to extend its presence in the automotive and consumer products markets.

“With this investment, we will install game changing technology that will allow us to increase production, access new markets and gain a strong advantage over our competitors,” Riley Brand, general manager at Jacobs & Thompson, said.

The multimillion-dollar project is expected to create 15 jobs in Barrie over the next five years.
