Montreal valve maker Velan wins US$36M nuclear supply deal in China

Manufacturer to ship components to number of new nuclear plants being built across country
MONTREAL—A French subsidiary of Quebec’s Velan Inc. has won a major supply deal with a quartet of Chinese nuclear companies.
The manufacturer announced Nov. 29 its Lyon, France-based plant will build nuclear-class valves for Nuclear Power Engineering Corp., China Nuclear Power Engineering Co., China Nuclear Energy Industry Corp. and State Nuclear Power Engineering Corp.
The US$36 million order includes components for a number of reactors at new nuclear plants being built across the country. With the new orders, Velan says its valves will be in use at more than 60 nuclear plants in China.
The Montreal-headquartered company plans to deliver the components throughout 2018 and 2019.
