Montreal-based CGI on a roll with Michelin, Volvo deals

Volvo will use CGI to include personalized connectivity in each vehicle, while Michelin renewing a partnership that has spanned 28 years
MONTREAL—Information technology services provider CGI has announced agreements with Swedish automaker Volvo and and French tire giant Michelin.
CGI is providing Volvo with authentication certificate services that will provide each car with individual and securely accessed online services from Volvo Cars. The contract also includes related operation and support services.The technology uses the same security technology used for Internet-based applications and authentication.
Every Volvo car will be provided with its own electronic ID document for authorization when connecting to online services. Each certificate will be installed when the car is manufactured, ensuring reliability and integration with Volvo’s manufacturing systems, market service and cloud environment.
For Michelin, CGI will serve as the tire-maker’s preferred partner for its procurement, marketing, sales and corporate finance applications and their development.
CGI will support Michelin’s transformation program with easy-to-use solutions that, among other tasks, will optimize of production management at Michelin and accelerate new product launches.
Under the terms of the new contract, CGI will supply Michelin with consulting, design, and computer application maintenance and support services in Europe and North America.
Transaction values were not disclosed for either of these contracts.
