The meat processor posted for 2014 a $213.8-million net loss from continuing operations for the full year
MISSISSAUGA, Ont.—Maple Leaf Foods Inc. expects its business to recover in 2015 following a year of changes that resulted in a $213.8-million net loss from continuing operations for the full year.
For the fourth quarter, the food processor had a $28.2 million net loss, including $5.2 million from discontinued operations.
In 2013, Maple Leaf Foods had a $511.4 million profit, primarily from its holdings in Canada Bread, which was sold last year.
The company’s continuing operations posted losses in both years—$22.99 million in 2014 and $47.9 million in 2013. Maple Leaf’s loss in the fourth quarter of 2014 was 20 cents per share, including 16 cents per share from continuing operations.
