India to open bidding for 100 solar projects

The government of India will next month invite bids for solor photovoltaic projects that will produce nearly 500 MW od energy production capacity, according to a story on BusinessGreen.com, an environmental blog.

The story confirms a report earlier this month by the Guardian UK that India plans to develop a large and diverse solar power industry.

The country is plagued by routine blackouts and many of it’s 1.1 billion people live without electricity.
