Chevy announces new global SUV

Detroit—Chevrolet has announced a new sport utility platform will join its global portfolio, debuting at the Paris Motor Show in September.

The five-passenger Chevrolet Trax is aimed at customers in more than 140 markets, with Mexico to be the first market to launch in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Chevrolet will not introduce the TRAX in the U.S. and Canada, where it would compete with the Equinox CUV.

The TRAX evolved from the global Chevrolet design aesthetic, however Chevrolet promises its interior and details will be executed to standards usually found in more expensive vehicles.
