Ballard fuel cells to power Europe’s buses

Vancouver clean-tech firm will supply 21 fuel cell modules to Van Hool, a Belgian bus-maker
VANCOUVER—Ballard Power Systems has signed an equipment supply agreement with Van Hool NV for 21 of its FCvelocityTM-HD6 fuel cell power modules.
The 21 FCvelocityTM-HD6 modules will power zero-emission buses in several European cities which will be named once contracts between Van Hool and public transit authorities, are signed.
The majority of the modules will be shipped in 2012.
Belgium-based Van Hool is Europe’s fourth-largest bus-maker, which previously engineered and built five hybrid fuel cell buses using Ballard power modules in Oslo, Norway.
Ballard researches, develops and manufactures fuel cells used in a range of applications.
