Aecon $110M in two contracts for mining division

Two deals at opposite ends of the country cover equipment installation and running electrical and instrumentation systems

TORONTO—Toronto-based construction and engineering company Aecon Group Inc. says its mining segment has been awarded two contracts worth a total of $110 million.

One of the contracts is for a K+S Potash project in Saskatchewan and the other is for a Vale processing plant in Newfoundland.

Terms of the individual contracts weren’t disclosed.

Aecon said its contract for the K+S Legacy potash project will include installation of mechanical equipment, piping, and electrical and instrumentation systems. Work is expected to be complete in the second quarter of 2016.

At the Vale Long Harbour processing plant, Aecon will perform general site services. Work has begun and is completed in the first quarter of 2016.
