Deteriorating concrete floors pose a significant hazard to employees, especially when forklifts are involved.
A soft drink manufacturing and bottling company became concerned became concerned about that issue in its plant. Heavy soft drinks loads were at risk of toppling when forklift trucks traveled over damaged concrete.
But standard concrete used to repair damaged floors requires up to three days for the patch to fully cure, which meant unacceptable downtime for the manufacturer. The company was looking for a fast curing concrete product to provide long-term repair to damaged floors without delaying traffic flow.
Henkel experts suggested LOCTITE PC 9410 Magna-Crete, a two-component, rapid setting concrete repair and grouting system. Chemically resistant to most common liquids and chemicals, it bonds to concrete, wood, glass, steel, and construction materials.
Damaged floor surfaces were prepared by using a hammer drill to remove loose material. Feathered edges of the damaged area were cut down to a depth of ½ an inch to improve the adhesive strength of the patch to the old concrete.
A trowel was used to apply and smooth the Loctite Magna Crete. The repaired floor was returned to normal forklift truck traffic in less than 30 minutes. The Henkel maintenance solution saved the company valuable production time by minimizing downtime.
The high adhesion and compressive strength of Loctite Magna Crete provides a long-lasting floor repair solution. Time for complete floor repair projects is reduced from three days to three hours, and the solution lowers maintenance repair costs and minimizes impact to normal production.
