Second victim still in intensive care at burn unit of Enfant-Jésus de Québec hospital in Québec City
VALCOURT, Que.—Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) has confirmed one employee is dead following an explosion at one of its Quebec facilities.
The company says Sébastien Tardif, a 38-year-old father of two, died from injuries sustained in the explosion at its R&D facility in Valcourt, about 100-kilometres east of Montréal, Nov. 9.
According to BRP, Tardif was a dynamometer operator.
The second person injured in the incident, a security guard, is still in intensive care at the burn unit of the Enfant-Jésus de Québec hospital in Québec City.
An investigation into the cause of the blast is still under way, according to the company.
The R&D facility remains closed for the investigation, but BRP says manufacturing operations are not affected.
