Mind boost

Infuse Your Mood Tea is a new natural herbal tea from Donmar Foods Inc. Made primarily from eleuthero leaves (also known as Siberian ginseng), the caffeine-free tea features immune-boosting and energy-enhancing properties. According to the company, consumption of the tea will reduce stress, support physical endurance, and enhance inner calm and focus. The tea is sold primarily at health food and specialty stores for a suggested price retail price of $9.99 for 20 tea bags.

Flavoured coolers

Brick Brewing Co. Ltd. has launched three new malt-based Seagram coolers: Seagram Wildberry, Classic Lemonade and Iced Lemon Tea. All three drinks contain five-per-cent alc./vol., and are made with natural ingredients, pure spring water, and a malt-based alcohol that offers a pleasant yet subtle sweetness. The beverages are priced at $9.95 for a six-pack of 355-mL cans, and are sold at Ontario Beer Stores.

Naturally tasty

Kashi Blueberry Oat Clusters & Flakes cereal is the newest addition to the Kashi brand of natural foods from Kellogg. Made with a delicious blend of whole grain oat clusters and blueberries, each cup of the new cereal offers six grams of protein, and 45 per cent of the daily amount of fibre shown to help lower cholesterol. It also contains vitamins C and E, and 100 per cent of the dally recommended value of folic acid and vitamins B6 and B12. Kashi Blueberry Oat Clusters & Flakes is free of trans fats and artificial colours and flavours, and is low in saturated fat.

Cold-weather cordial

U.K. soft drink maker Bottlegreen Drinks has launched its range of enjoy hot cordials in Canada. The popular line of cordial flavours, including Spiced Berry and Ginger & Lemongrass, can be enjoyed with warm water, and will appeal to adults looking for a premium alcohol- and caffeine-free beverage. The cordials, which do not contain artificial colours, flavours or sweeteners, sell for a suggested retail price of $7.29 per 500-mL bottle.

Chocolate delights

Celebrate your love of cocoa with new Skinny Cow brand chocolate from Nestlé in four varieties: Heavenly Crisp Peanut Butter; Milk Chocolate; Hazelnut; and Dreamy Clusters Milk Chocolate. Each pack or bar is 120 calories or less. The three bar varieties feature delicate wafers layered with peanut butter, chocolate or hazelnut crème, and are covered with a chocolate coating. Dream Clusters offer rich, bite-size chewy clusters of caramel and crispy pieces covered in chocolate. Single bars retail for $1.09, while multipacks start at $3.79.

Thirst quenchers

Hawaiian Punch returns to Canada with a new format and flavours. The beverage, from Canada Dry Mott’s, is now available in original Fruit Juicy Red (a blend of tropical fruits), as well as Green Berry Rush (kiwi and strawberries) and Lemon Berry Squeeze (lemon and berry). Each 296-mL bottle offers 100 per cent of the daily recommended intake of vitamin C, with just 80 calories per serving. Six packs of the bottles retail for a suggested price of $3.99.

Innovative packaging

Orville Redenbacher’s new Pop Up Bowl offers consumers both the popcorn and the bowl for ultimate convenience. Pop Up Bowls offer less mess and clean up, and will be available in the brand’s top five varieties – Buttery, Smart Pop!, Extra Buttery, Light Buttery and Select White. ConAgra Foods Canada plans to roll out the new packaging for all regular-sized packs of these varieties.
