Firm to modify newly-built 212,000 square-foot site in Phoenix, install six high-speed sandwich assembly lines

VANCOUVER—Premium Brands Holdings Corp., a Richmond, B.C.-based food manufacturer and distributor has announced plans to open a new sandwich-making plant in Phoenix, Arizona.

The company, which operates across Canada in a number of U.S. states, said it will invest approximately US$29 million in the 212,000 square-foot facility. The funds will go toward modifying a newly-built leased plant in the southwestern U.S. city. Premium Brands said it will install six high-speed sandwich assembly lines at the site, leaving room for another 12 if needed.

“The strong growth of our sandwich business in recent years has been driven by several emerging consumer and industry trends that are rapidly gaining momentum,” George Paleologou, the company’s president and CEO, said. “Our continued investment in the sandwich category will not only help to ensure we maintain our leading role in responding to these trends but will also further enhance our ability to offer large national and international customers with unique product and supply chain solutions.”

The company already operates two sandwich production plants in the U.S., as well as two in Canada.
