P&H Milling on track to open greenfield mill next spring, creating 16 jobs

HAMILTON, Ont.—The federal government is investing $10 million in Parrish and Heimbecker Ltd.’s new Hamilton, Ont. waterfront flour mill.

The funds will go toward new technology at the $45 million wheat flour milling plant, touted as the first new Ontario flour mill in 75 years.

The company said the new plant will allow it to increase its production and exports, as well as add 16 jobs in Hamilton. The increased capacity will also allow P&H to buy nearly four-times as much wheat from Canadian producers, the federal government said.

The repayable loan was made available through Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s Growing Forward initiative, and adds to $5 million in previously-announced funds from the government of Ontario.
