COM DEV gets $15M follow-on order for satellite equipment

Options from previously announced deal bring total contract value to $30-million, company said
CAMBRIDGE, Ont.—Space subsystems maker COM DEV International Ltd.announced that a customer has exercised options from a previous contract for additional equipment valued at more than $15-million.
The initial deal was announced in September 2012 and was valued at $14-million, with the potential to increase to about $26-million with options.
The options exercised by the undisclosed customer now bring the total contract value to approximately $30-million.
“This additional work allows us to further leverage our lean manufacturing capacity,” COM DEV International Products president Mike Williams said in a statement.
“It also presents an excellent opportunity to utilize the design capability and manufacturing capacity of our El Segundo, (Calif.), facility in the commercial marketplace.”
COM DEV said it will provide L, C & Ku Band filters, multiplexers, switches and microwave components, with work performed at facilities in Cambridge, Ont., and El Segundo, Calif.
Delivery will be complete by October 2014, the company said.
