Firm order for 55 buses by the Milwaukee Country Transit System; option for another 35.
WINNIPEG—New Flyer Industries Inc. has been awarded a contract for 90 of its Xcelsior diesel 40-foot heavy duty buses by the Milwaukee Country Transit System (MCTS).
The contract contains a firm order of 55 buses with options for an additional 35 buses. New Flyer has supplied the MCTS with 691 buses over the last 16 years. MCTS currently operates a 100% New Flyer fleet.
The 55 buses are expected to go into production in the first quarter of 2013, and will be delivered by the summer of 2013.
New Flyer manufactures heavy-duty transit buses in the US and Canada. It has three manufacturing facilities, including plant in St. Cloud and Crookston, Minn., and Winnipeg, Man. The Company currently operates a parts fabrication facility in Elkhart, IN and four parts distribution centers in Erlanger, KY; Fresno, Ca.; Winnipeg, Man. and Brampton, Ont. It employs more than 2,200 people.
