New Canadian automation services provider launched

ANCASTER, Ont.: There’s a new player in automation and mechatronics services—a Canadian one at that.

ProVantage Automation Corp., an Ancaster, Ont.-based automation and mechatronics services provider, will provide its specialized services for packaging and converting machinery in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

The company, which is led by Rob Hattin, former president of Hamilton’s Edson Packaging Machinery Ltd., also has offices in Green Bay, Wis. and Atlanta, Ga. to support paper converters in the US market.

ProVantage has more than 50 years of experience designing and building automation systems between its three principals, which include Hattin, Peter Graham and Alex Shalamov.

Hattin is also the vice-chair of the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME).

The company will focus on automation systems that optimize the whole production line. It will also support manufacturer’s lean processes to improve supply chain management.

ProVantage’s services include: overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) optimization; line harmonization (virtual lineshaft); automated machine change-overs & adjustments; advanced diagnostics and remediation programs. Additionally, ProV offers ‘Full Clock’ support services, from on-site repair to machine commissioning.

The company supports paper converters with machine control and system optimization services for wrappers, case packers, bundlers and palletizers, and all interconnecting conveyor and laning machinery.

An automation and simulation lab offers electrical contractors and panel builders solutions for machine controller issues.  And there are engineering services for system design, BoM selection, controller programming and HMI development. The new company can also provide training support.
