Facility will manufacture components for hybrid and electric cars.
GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, Mich.: Magna E-Car Systems has opened a plant in Michigan where the green vehicle partnership will build components for hybrid and electric cars.
The company, a partnership between Magna Int. and the Stronach Group, says the 66,000-square-foot facility will employ about 95 workers, making electric motors, inverters and electronic powertrain controllers for the Ford Focus Electric, as well as inverters for the Fisker Karma.
The new facility is the sixth in Magna E-Car’s arsenal, which includes four in North America and two in Europe. The company has approximately 700 employees globally.
Magna E-Car Systems was recently named a Michigan Green Leader by the Detroit Free Press in the Automotive Innovation category, for its work in the development, manufacture and integration of new hybrid and electric vehicles.
