Designed for residential solar, commercial and telecom applications
TORONTO: Electrovaya Inc. is leveraging its utility and automotive batteries for a new line of mid-size energy storage products.
The Toronto-based developer and manufacturer of advanced batteries has delivered its first 25 kWh, 400-volt lithium ion SuperPolymer product, the PowerBlock 25-400V, to a large Japanese utility through Nippon Kouatsu Electric Co. Ltd.
“As Japan moves towards higher levels of sustainable alternative energy, the demand for mid-size energy storage systems will grow rapidly not only in Japan but also in the rest of the world,” said Raj Das Gupta, Electrovaya’s general manager, energy storage systems.
The PB25-400V system, designed for residential solar, utility, mid-size commercial and telecom sector applications, integrates cells, the battery management system and power electronics.
