Police said building was completely engulfed in flames when officers arrived on scene

FREEPORT, N.S.—Police say a fire that ravaged an abandoned fish plant in Freeport, N.S., is considered suspicious.

RCMP say the building was completely engulfed in flames when officers arrived around 1:30 a.m. April 6.

They say the building burned to the ground.

Police say because the structure did not have power and there were no threatening weather conditions, the fire has been deemed suspicious.

The investigation is ongoing.

Last summer a suspicious fire destroyed an abandoned paper warehouse in Kingston, N.S., about 150 kilometres northeast of the site of the fish plant fire.

Three teenagers were charged in relation to the incident.
