British Columbia location to serve western Canadian retailers
DELTA, British Columbia—In anticipation of the Christmas shopping rush, Toys R Us (Canada) Ltd has opened a new DC.
The facility, located in Delta, British Columbia, is 16,723sqm (180,000sqf) in size and offers cross-docking, transload, order fulfillment and store replenishment operations. A fully automated sortation system is deployed in the warehouse.
SCI Logistics, based in Toronto, is operating the facility for toy retailer. SCI and Toys R Us have had a working relationship for the last five years. Besides handling the DC activities, SCI will also be providing some transportation services.
The DC is the third in the country for Concord, Ontario-based Toys R Us. It was built to let overseas and domestic manufacturers ship directly to BC for distribution to western Canadian Toys R Us and Babies R Us retail outlets.
