Goes shopping for mobile workforce capabilities
ATLANTA, Georgia: RedPrairie Corp has added to its mobile capabilities with the acquisition of Vortex Connect.
Toronto, Ontario-based Vortex produces mobile workforce management solutions used by businesses to deliver necessary information to employees so they can perform their jobs.
Supply chain software company RedPrairie intends to combine its Enterprise Workforce Management software with Vortex’s mobile platform. The addition of Vortex should add a number of features, including mobile shift management and bidding, mobile communications, and operations management and employee self-service to what RedPrairie’s existing software. The target market for the resultant technology solution includes warehouses and distribution centres as well as retail environments.
RedPrairie will keep a physical presence in Toronto and will employ Vortex staff as the company intends to create a Mobility Centre of Excellence which will research mobile technology and help promote mobility solutions through the supply chain.
“As the consumerization of technology pushes further into the business world, RedPrairie believes that the adoption of a mobile platform is increasingly vital to our customers’ success,” said RedPrairie chief technology officer John Kopcke.
“Vortex’s track-record of providing tools to mobilize people, automate paper processes and connect organizations using mobile technologies made it the clear choice for RedPrairie. We will embed mobility across our solution footprint ahead of others in the market and to the advantage of our customers.”
