  • At least 1 year of experience in materials development in an industrial setting, specifically in bioprocessing.
  • Candidates must have hands on research experience in material synthesis and characterization, bioproducts fermentation technology, and lignocellulose processing.

Responsibilities

  • Retained Engineering Services for Omniweld’s CWB clients certified to CSA W47.1, W47.2, W186
  • Welding Engineering consulting services relating to CSA, AWS, or ASME projects
  • Offers and assists with technical support for Air Liquide Canada. Jointly with Regional Sales Managers, develops proactive plans to gain additional business (gas, consumables) at prospects or existing customers based on Omniweld’s welding expertise. Provides technical support to the Customer Centre regarding welding services while respecting Omniweld and ALC policies and procedures.
  • Ensures Omniweld service sales growth within the strategy defined with the Director of Sales Metal Fabrication, leads the sales effort, promote and sell with the account representatives all services included in the Omniweld offer (audit, training, retained engineering, welding procedures development, welding performance services, ManageAL services, etc).
  • Offers Omniweld welding services to customers and obtains the signature of a technical assistance agreement or purchase order. Sends service billing instructions to Customer Centre administration. Monitors level of activity and manages accordingly its resources (internal and external). Evaluates the performance of the activity, defines and implements adequate corrective actions.
  • Performs audits based on cost calculations and analysis of all aspects of the welding process used in the shop (duty cycle and deposition rate assessments).
  • Evaluates customer training needs, prepares and organizes technical programs on welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, MCAW, and SAW). Ensures a follow-up at customers request. Develops with the welding technologists the steps, procedures and training to assist customers in their welding projects.
  • Performs safety audits at customers’ plants and writes report on non-conformities related to welding safety using CSA W117.2 as a guide ; identifies recommended actions to make the customer working environment safer. Evaluates customer needs as relates to welding safety and offer adequate services.
  • Builds and organizes the Omniweld team in its territory. Evaluates training needs and makes sure the team receives the appropriate training.
    Works in cooperation with his/her team and cross-functional teams to continuously improve work processes. Analyzes his/her activities, identifies causes for problems and proposes appropriate corrective measures.

Requirements

  • Registered as a P.Eng or eligible to be registered as a P.Eng
  • 5 yrs of welding engineering experience acceptable to CWB
  • Qualification as Welding Engineer by CWB to CSA W47.1
  • Qualification as a Welding Engineer by CWB to CSA W47.2 – Aluminum and /or CSA W186 a plus.
  • Knowledge of CSA, AWS, ASME welding codes
  • Bachelor’s degree in metallurgy or mechanical engineer applied to welding, Master’s degree in
    metallurgical engineering would be an asset.
